NAUGHTY BUT NICE!

New York Cheesecake is the pure, unadulterated cheesecake with no fancy ingredients added either to the cheesecake or placed on top of it. It is made with pure cream cheese, cream, eggs, and sugar. Everybody has a certain image of New York Style Cheesecake. According to New Yorkers, only the great cheesecake makers are located in New York. Locals say that cheesecake wasn't really cheesecake until it was cheesecake in New York City.

Hail a taxicab anywhere in New York City and tell the driver "Take me to the best cheesecake in New York." Odds are you'll end up at the corner of Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues in Brooklyn, at Juniors. Founded by Harry Rosen in 1950, Juniors landmark restaurant (there are several other newer branches in Manhattan) is known by many as the home of New York's best cheesecake. For decades, Brooklynites (and other New Yorkers) have come here to eat, laugh, argue, and generally worship at the shrine of the New York Cheesecake.

There are many other places serving and selling NY Cheesecake - in fact just about everywhere you go in the city, your gastric juices will be activated by the sight of portions of, or whole rounds lying around seductively on display in restaurants and food stores, a bit like young ladies awaiting selection in a whorehouse.
Veniero's Pastry Shop and Caffe, at 342, East 11th Street (between 1st and 2nd Avenues) (above), and Eileen's Special Cheesecake at 17, Cleveland Place, opposite Spring and Lafayette Streets (below), are both particularly noted for the high standard of their 'taste-ladened' NY Cheesecake, attracting clientele from from all across town.
